Where Auxerre stand now the window has shut

AJ Auxerre secured survival in 2025-26, finishing fifteenth with 34 points — but the club decided the story could not simply continue as it was. On 4 June 2026, the AJA officialised the departure of Christophe Pélissier, the coach who had taken the club up and kept it up, after relations with the board had deteriorated over the preceding months according to consistent French press reporting. The replacement was one of the summer's most intriguing appointments anywhere in Ligue 1: Will Still, the young Belgian-English coach who made his name at Reims, took over at the Abbé-Deschamps with his own hand-picked staff.
