Sixteen years later: the squad Le Mans took back to Ligue 1

Le Mans FC are back in the top flight after sixteen years away, having finished runners-up in Ligue 2 in 2025-26 with 62 points behind champions Troyes. For a club that spent years rebuilding from the lower divisions, promotion is the reward for one of French football's quieter long-term projects — and the club attacked the window with a strategy built explicitly on continuity.
