Where Paris FC stand now the window has shut

Paris FC's first season back in the top flight since 1979 ended in eleventh place — a genuinely strong return for a promoted club, and proof that the project behind it is serious. That project is the best-funded newcomer story in French football: the Arnault family's holding took control of the club in 2024 with Red Bull as minority partner, and the stated ambition has never been mere survival. The biggest change came on the bench. Stéphane Gilli, the coach who won promotion, had been dismissed in late February; Antoine Kombouaré saw out the season; and on 6 July 2026 the club officialised Liam Rosenior — the former Strasbourg coach returning to Ligue 1 after a spell in the Premier League — on a contract to June 2028. Recruitment followed the ambition, with striker Pablo Pagis arriving from Lorient among the summer's additions. That summer is now over. The market shut on 1 September and Rosenior begins the season proper with a settled group of twenty-five: two goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards, and no way of adding to it until the January window opens. Year two is when promoted-club stories are confirmed or corrected, and Paris FC attack it with resources most of the division cannot match.
