Lille secured third place in Ligue 1 with 61 points, clinching direct Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2025-26 season — a fitting send-off for coach Bruno Genesio, who then left the club and was appointed at Marseille in July. The succession was one of the boldest bench calls in Europe: LOSC handed the job to Davide Ancelotti, the 36-year-old son of Carlo, previously head coach of Botafogo and a long-time member of elite coaching staffs, taking his first top job in European club football.
